Protecting the Orphans.... {Crisis in America}

source unknown

I know that so many of you on here don't live anywhere near my country (the good ol' USA), but let me just speak to those of you that do, for just one second.

Every evening for the past few weeks on TV, I have watched conservatives and liberals fight about whose responsibility it is to take care of the Mexican children that have been swamping our borders for a "better life".

Every evening I watch countless Christians on facebook scream about "send them back to where they came from", and "this isn't what our country was founded on -- who cares about them?!"!!!

And every single evening....my heart breaks....

It's not a democrats responsibility.

It's not a republicans responsibility.

It's not the responsibility of our government to tend to these children. It is our governments responsibility to keep our border's safe. However, when it is flooded with hundreds of children every single day, what then?

The other night I stopped to watch the reports once again, and I said out loud, "If I could take every single one of those children....I would." And I thought to myself, how it must feel to be a mother in such a desperate situation, as to allow her child to leave its family in hopes of a new and better life for them.

You see, we're quick to judge when we aren't in those situations, but we demand to be understood when we are. And unfortunately, half of the population in the United States has absolutely no idea what happens in Mexico, both physically and spiritually, on a daily basis. What these children have to see....witness....experience....

And so my question of whose responsibility it is was quickly answered.

Whose responsibility is it to take care of these children that have found their way to us?

My question was answered with a question in return.....

Where is the church?
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed." Psalms 82:3

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35
