{Semi} Wordless Wednesday | With a few more words than normal.

I can't take complete credit for this one. The quote above was part of my Pastor's sermon on Sunday, and honestly, it really stuck to me. At first he kept saying it over and over and over and over again....and I was like...."ok, I got it". But I didn't. Not until I came home and began the "regular" part of the day.

Ever since Sunday, I've been telling myself this very quote....over and over and over again.

This week, I've been struggling mentally. It's been one of those weeks where I "just don't have time for God". And that's never a good place to be in.

So conveniently, I haven't been reading my Bible, and barely praying. But also conveniently, God would bring these scriptures to mind very randomly, but when I needed them most.
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
But the one that really got me was this one....
"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,  backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them." Romans 1:28-32

I mean seriously, gut punch, right there.

Because they didn't "know" the true and living God...because they were "fans" of God but never really knew Him....and because they preferred their way over His....He literally gave them over to their depraved minds, and what they "knew" changed what they "did".

Think about that today. What better excuse is there to study the word and pray daily. Because we are only as good as what we know, and if we "think" we know God, do we really? Look at your actions, your desires, your wants, the way you speak to others.

If what you know changes what you do, then I think we could all know God a little better than we do.....

I know I have some work to do today, what about you? I could be a better homemaker. I could be a better wife. I could be a better mom. I could be a better friend. I could spend more time praying and reading the word rather than spending it on facebook or blogging. I could be a little more loving in the way I speak to others. I would be a little more understanding of people's issues, including Christian's who aren't "altogether" yet. I could be a little more proactive in ministry and community service. I could cry out to God more than I do. I could grasp more knowledge of Him and His infinite power and love.

I'm only as good as the knowledge I retain about His character, love, patience......

I could....
