{FREE} 10 Dinosaur Preschool + Kindergarten Study Units

My son just loves loves loves anything and everything that has to do with Dinosaurs, so if there is a way for me to include it into his daily homeschool, I'm certainly going to try to. My goal is to keep his interest as much as possible, and sometimes, all it takes is a little "rawr" in the day!

Below are a few links to resources that you can use for your fellow dinosaur loving PreK or
Kindergarten student. Some of these we used this year and some we will be using next year (I especially can't wait to use the Creation based one!).

Most of these Dinosaur activities are simply that, just regular learning (ABCs, 123s, prewriting, writing, reading, etc) with Dinosaur photos, clip art, and interaction; with the exception of the Creation based Dinosaur curriculum packet.

**Please click on each link below to see previews of each curriculum. Do not simply go by the title and descriptionI have added a "my notes" section to some of these that I felt the need to comment on.**

Dinosaur Sight Words Game
My Notes: Please do not force your preschooler to start learning sight words. Sight words generally do not begin until the end of age 4 preschool, and even then, they may not find interest in it until age 5.
This sight word game would go along nicely with a dinosaur unit or just be a fun way for your students to practice reading sight words.

There are 70 sight word cards containing words typically taught in Kindergarten and 1st grade, There are 12 special cards, a blank page for you to add your own words, and a recording sheet for after the game.

My Notes: Again, sight words are great for preschoolers that have confindently learned their letters and the sounds that they make. Sight words are best utilized at the end of age 4 preschool  or in Kindergarten.
Included in this pack are 2 sorting mats, many sorting cards which include both real and nonsense sight words, and a recording sheet created with a dinosaur theme.

Bat, Dinosaur, or Pumpkin - a fall sorting activity for b, d, and p confusion

In this activity, students identify the first letter of the words and sort the word cards by matching them to the correct letter and picture (b - bat, d - dinosaur, or p - pumpkin). This activity was created to help students with b, d, and p confusion. This file includes a sorting mat and 2 sets of word cards. The first set is in black and white, and students must sort the words solely by identifying the first letter of each word. The second set is color coded to allow for differentiation. Students who struggle to identify the first letter can match the word to the picture that is the same color. This allows them to practice seeing and matching the letters without the frustration sometimes involved if they have difficulty with this skill.
